It’s a little bit acoustical, a little bit light fixture. But it’s a lot of blue rings! Gensler Architects designed these pendants to give open office areas visual interest, along with acoustical absorption and lighting. The rings range vary in size, from 12” to 30” in diameter. Each pendant was constructed using layers of bendable plywood to form the circular drum. Next, 3mm felt was applied to the interior and exterior of the drum. We used a tri-point deviation gripper to hang each pendant individually. About a third of the pendants are paired with a light fixture. Our NIC team coordinated with the electrician to incorporate the electrical feed with the hanging hardware. The final result is a multifunctional and unique addition to their space.
