Fabric Waves? None of them the Same? Sounds Like Fun!
What are all these lines on the ceiling plans? And why are some over 40’ long? Oh, I see… the designer wants continuous fabric strips that range from 24” – 36” in depth. Oh, and each one is cut to a different depth and angle? So we need over 350 fabric pieces… and none of them are the same. Different lengths, different angles, and different depths for each piece. Wow! Okay – let’s do this.
The design team wanted a large ceiling statement. AEC worked with them to come up with a simple track system that could provide easy installation to the ceiling and even easier installation of the fabric. Some of the runs are over 40’ in length (really), so we had to make it easy. But what about fabric? Do you hem it? Glue it? No way, remember ... we need simple and easy. We used a polyurethane-coated fabric that would not fray. It needed no further treatment after being cut. So, how about the cutting? Come on, we have to keep some trade secrets to ourselves! 😊 All you need to do is enjoy the view!
