In 1991 Barbara O’Toole started AEC with the focus of bridging the gap between acoustics, construction and design. Barbara started out as a mechanical and environmental acoustical engineer. She quickly realized the project team members from the architects, engineers and contractors were not speaking the same language for the acoustical needs on even the same project. How do you provide something that a project requires but everyone is looking at from different needs and wants? The architect wants the aesthetic interest, the acoustician wants the acoustic performance and the general contractor wants it on time and in budget.
Thus AEC was born to tie all three together.
